So many relevant graduating-from-college-and-not-sure-what-I’ll-do-next articles. This one was written by a girl from Yale who died in a car crash recently.

Photo 30 May 1 note Might be getting a little Europe nostalgic..wonder why. Ha. This restaurant was so good. A big group of older Spanish ladies at the next table told us to get the steak and, needless to say, I did not hesitate. Probably one of the few times I had steak instead of jamón in Spain, to be honest. They have many varieties of it, including the kind you can shave off from a whole pig leg, found propped on a wooden pedestal in the kitchens of most Spaniards. So crazy.

A nice lunch at El Viajero in La Latina. It was such a nice day and such a treat to be able to order champagne and just be classy. Michelle ordered the classic steak meal with a baked potato, Lauren ordered raviolis with blue cheese sauce and I got the pasta carbonara…yum!

Photo 30 May 1 note Just saw this blog post of Rosellen’s, about my last divine meal in Spain at a really classy restaurant off Gran Via that was surprisingly not very expensive. My dish is bottom right. Tasty.
foodieineurope:

our last dinner with Michelle before she headed back to the states. la susana in madrid is so reasonably priced, our minds were blown. i got pasta with shitake mushroom sauce, lauren got pesto spinach pasta, michelle got steak with soy sauce and rice, and nora tried the meatballs…each dish under 8 euro!

estrellaexplores asked: Hey! I saw that you posted a pic that said you lived in the Embajadores area of Madrid. I plan to move to Spain this fall and am trying to decide where to live while I'm there. Did you enjoy living in that area? Are there any other areas of Madrid that you think would be a good place to live?

Cool! I did like living in Embajadores because it is only a few stops away from Sol, the center of the city. I guess it is a little grittier than other areas, it’s a working class neighborhood with the occasional drug dealers, but I never felt unsafe and I liked the general vibe. A few of my friends lived off the Canal stop, which is the Chamberi area, and I thought that was a cool area as well. I think there would be a lot of fun areas to live but I can’t say I know all of them super well having only been there three months, but I always really liked Malasaña and Chueca because it’s kind of ‘happening’ there and cool to wander around at night. Or to be close to busy areas like Gran Vía or Plaza Mayor would also be fun. My friend recommends Arguelles because there is a lot of shopping and students in addition to being close to the center of the city.

Anonymous asked: What was studying abroad at Oxford like? I'm studying abroad there for a year starting in the fall.

Hi..I’m sorry if you asked this awhile ago! Studying abroad at Oxford was interesting and challenging, I’m not sure if you go to USF or not but I did a program through Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies that was affiliated with Oxford University, but wasn’t actually located on any of the college campuses. I think you will really like it if you’re living on a campus with other Oxford students, but I found it hard to feel like a part of it all because I was off campus with a big group of Americans. Still, the town itself is so cool and unlike anywhere I’ve ever lived, with a lot of crazy history. Even just being able to enter the centuries-old, Oxford-students-only libraries was something so different than anything I’ve experienced at school in the US. I would suggest joining rowing and other clubs that you wouldn’t have at your home school and taking trips to other places in the U.K. if you have time. London is close and very fun for escaping the small town scene..though Oxford does have its cool pubs. I think it was tough at the time but I appreciate it all more in retrospect; getting a taste of Oxford University is something not many people can say they have done.
